Sponsored by Humanities Washington, this traveling exhibition from the Museum on Main Street program from the Smithsonian Institution about how individuals and families have moved to where they end up, how communities are formed in new destinations. This has become a platform for much community involvement. A series of memoir writing workshops were scheduled to coincide with this exhibit, as well as community bulletin boards and oral histories. The close of the exhibit coincides with Highland Community Days, the big summer festival in Tieton.
Your Story Matters: Memoir Writing Workshops
Ongoing
Each of us knows someone whose life stories entertain and touch us. Your Story Matters memoir writing workshops invited participants to recount their lives. Each session, attended by writers of all ages, provided literary tools and the encouragement necessary for committing memories to paper. Led by Yakima writer, Wendy Warren, and Tieton Arts & Humanities Board President, Donald Berk, Your Story Matters workshops were sparked by the arrival in Tieton of Smithsonian Museum on Main Street traveling exhibition, Journey Stories.

Harvest Hall, Mighty Tieton Warehouse, and Paper Hammer Studios
A three-day series of lectures, workshops, performances, and a banquet, now in its fifth season. Each year it grows and brings regional, national, and international poets to Tieton. Washington Poets Association, Humanities Washington, Blue Begonia Press, YVCC, and the Poet Laureate program have worked with us to improve the programming we are able to offer. The event has included several participatory art installations in Tieton City Park, free to the public, and very attractive to young children. A poetry slam is also offered to everyone for $5 admission.
This year, LiTFUSE is proud to have two American Book Award winners as well as Marvin Bell included in the faculty.

Allied ArtsVan Art in the Park
June 20—July 29, 2011
Tieton City Park
This summer, the Allied ArtsVan brought art and craft experiences to many of the local children and their parents for the fourth summer. A surprise to us has been how many parents become actively involved in the activities each session. Each Wednesday afternoon, the ArtsVan provided professional instruction and supplies and encouragement. Since 2008, the ArtsVan has attracted and instructed over 100 children and adults in the Tieton City Park as part of this program.
